A Historical Perspective
Truth in Advertising takes us back to the 1940s and 1950s. In the words of this site:
"Once upon a time, the rich, sweetly pungent smoke of tobacco offered more than dreary old diseases like emphysema and lung cancer. It promised sophistication, sex appeal, even longevity itself."
After looking at these old cigarette advertisements, stop and think how the future will look at our advertising 60 years from now. Will they marvel at our ads for gas-guzzling, poison-spewing automobiles? What will they think of our selling of the latest and greatest artery clogging fast food? Only time will tell. Until then, take a nostalgic trip back to a time when soldiers wearing gas masks took time out to have a smoke.
